Job summary

Vectrus, Inc. is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Technician in Texas to repair and replace aircraft systems and components in support of DoD missions. The role requires reading schematics, following procedures, and a strong safety mindset.

You must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD CAC and meet licensing requirements. Required is a high school diploma and 3+ years of hands-on experience with aircraft systems.

Qualifications

  • Must have minimum of High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have three (3) years experience within the last six (6) years performing repair and replacement of aircraft systems and components.
  • Familiar with aircraft systems, tools, drawings, schematics and industry safety requirements.
  • Must be able to meet Government/company licensing/qualification requirements for the position.
  • FAA A&P License is desired; must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains assigned aircraft in accordance with customer, manufacturer and company procedures.
  • Use provided test equipment and Ground Support Equipment to perform tasks.
  • Read, interpret and follow schematic diagrams, drawings and charts.
  • Assist with ordering parts, tools, materials and equipment as required.
  • Annotates maintenance actions on aircraft forms and systems.
  • Complies with FOD, Hazardous Waste, and Tool Control Programs.
  • Maintain records of all work performed.
  • May travel up to 25% of the time.

Depot Airframe

Responsibilities

Performs repair and replacement of aircraft systems, components and accessories in accordance with customer, manufacturer and company procedures. May be required to handle hazardous materials in performance of assigned duties. A good working knowledge of assigned aircraft maintenance and parts manual. Familiarization with OPNAV 4790 Series and other applicable Navy Instructions, Manufacturer Manuals and Company Instructions. May be required to become a Certified Engine Operator. Must have experience in corrosion detection, treatment and prevention. Must have valid state operators license and be able to pass the government licensing requirements. Must be able to read, speak, write legibly and understand the English language. Must be customer oriented.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Maintains assigned aircraft in accordance with customer, manufacturer and company procedures.
  • Use provided test equipment and Ground Support Equipment to perform assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, follow and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts and other technical publications.
  • Assist with ordering parts, tools, materials and equipment as required.
  • Annotates maintenance actions on aircraft forms and Visual Information Display Systems (VIDS)/Maintenance Action Forms (MAF) or within Optimized Organizational Maintenance Activity (OOMA) Systems.
  • Complies with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, and Tool Control Programs.
  • Ensure proper operation and use of special test equipment and Ground Support Equipment.
  • Maintain appropriate records of all work accomplished.
  • May be required to perform off-site service on assigned detachments.
  • Perform corrosion maintenance and inspections as required.
  • Assist when directed to ensure safety, security and preservation of Government owned and Company owned equipment.
  • Must be able to perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be willing and able to stand rotating shifts.
  • Must be available to travel 25% of the time.
Physical Demands:

This classification activity is usually accomplished in a hangar/shop/flight line environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with these activities. Physical Effort: Climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking and working in tiring uncomfortable positions. May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.

Work Environment:

The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards.

Qualifications
  • Must have minimum of High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have three (3) years experience within the last six (6) years performing repair and replacement of aircraft systems, components and accessories, as well as aircraft flight control and hydraulic systems or satisfactory completion of T45 OJT Program.
  • Must be familiar with aircraft systems, tools, drawings, schematics and industry safety requirements.
  • Must be able to meet any Government/company licensing/qualification requirements for the position.
  • FAA A&P License is desired. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) CAC (Commons Access Card)

  • Must have a valid state drivers license.
