Job summary

V2X Inc. is seeking an experienced Airframe Structural Mechanic in Kingsville, TX to perform structural repairs and modifications on aircraft and related equipment. You will apply technical knowledge to solve repair problems and maintain accurate maintenance records.

The role requires 3 years of experience, familiarity with aircraft systems, and the ability to read drawings and manuals. FAA A&P is preferred; U.S. security clearance may be required; English proficiency is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform modifications, removal, and re-installation for structural integrity.
  • Set up, troubleshoot, and use shop metal-working equipment and fixtures.
  • Develop procedures for structural repair and replacement requirements.
  • Inspect and determine fabrication procedures and template requirements; ensure quality of work.
  • Maintain records and complete maintenance forms (MAF/NALCOMIS).
  • Troubleshoot and repair aircraft engines, airframes and systems to ensure air-worthiness.

Responsibilities

Performs structural and sheet metal repairs and modifications to aircraft, accessories and associated equipment. Must be knowledgeable in the operation and maintenance of structural metal equipment and machinery. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge and experience to solve structural repair problems. Provides technical assistance, guidance and instruction to employees in the Aircraft Structural Mechanic classification. Possesses in‑depth knowledge of aircraft structural maintenance practices, applicable maintenance and technical manuals, special tools, test equipment and the operation and maintenance of structural repair equipment and machinery. Must have working knowledge of corrosion detection, prevention and treatment. Must be customer‑oriented.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs modifications, removal, replacement and re‑installation actions; part fabrication; layouts, templates, etc., for structural integrity, quality and completeness of work.
  • Adjusts, sets up, troubleshoots, repairs, and demonstrates correct usage of shop metal‑working equipment, hand tools, powered tools, fastener installation tooling and fixtures used for aircraft structural maintenance.
  • Develops, designs, recommends, and determines structural repair and replacement requirements and procedures, including fastener and material type, damaged area cutouts, etc.
  • Develops, designs, recommends, inspects and determines metal, plastic, phenolic and fiberglass part fabrication procedures and template requirements, including layout, fastener and material type, quality and completeness of work.
  • Assists in P&E report preparation.
  • Sets up and uses sight levels and transits; performs aircraft optical alignment checks as required.
  • Provides technical assistance, guidance and instruction as required.
  • Maintains and/or completes required records and applicable maintenance forms.
  • Uses schematics, drawings, charts and other applicable publications to troubleshoot, repair, test and modify assigned systems.
  • Performs aircraft inventory, acceptance and transfer inspections.
  • CDI Certified, as required.
  • Performs engine, flight control and landing gear rigging.
  • May be required to perform off‑site service on assigned detachments.
  • Turn‑up aircraft as required.
  • May be required to perform collateral duty inspection assignments.
  • Troubleshoots, services and repairs aircraft engines, airframes and systems to ensure air‑worthiness.
  • Replaces and rebuilds major aircraft structures such as wings, fuselage, empennage and landing gear systems.
  • Performs aircraft surface controls, engine and landing gear rigging.
  • Determines feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components using manufacturer’s manuals, service bulleting and applicable publications.
  • Removes and replaces aircraft engines utilizing appropriate support equipment.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties including turn flushing, cleaning, lubing of aircraft systems and components.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the work center and surrounding area.
  • Adheres to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and regulations.
  • Adheres to Company Tool Control Program.
  • Documents work accomplished on Maintenance Action Form (MAF) or NALCOMIS System.
Qualifications

Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience as an Airframe Structural Mechanic. Must be familiar with aircraft systems, tools, drawings, schematics and normal safety requirements. Must have experience in corrosion detection, treatment and prevention. Satisfactory completion of U.S. Navy aircraft structural repair AMS “A” or “B” school or equivalent courses preferred but not required. FAA Airframe license desired but not required. Must be able to meet any government/company licensing/qualification requirements for the position. Must be able to obtain the level of security clearance required by the government. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

Climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking and working in tiring uncomfortable positions. Must be able to regularly lift 35 pounds unassisted; may occasionally be required to lift 50 pounds unassisted. Special vision abilities required: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus. Work may involve inclement weather, high noise hazards, electrical shock hazards, fumes or airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts.
