Job summary

Gibbon Packing, LLC an American Foods Group Company is seeking a Cattle Driver at our Gibbon, NE plant. The role involves receiving and weighing cattle, ensuring inspector oversight, and moving cattle through pens and chutes.

You will also monitor water/feeding, document lots, and ensure cattle are handled calmly to minimize stress. Ideal candidates will be able to work varied shifts, complete safety and GMP/HACCP/SOP/Historic training, and be prepared for overtime.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must be able to work in a variety of work temperatures warm, hot, humid, cold, wet or with slippery surfaces at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Must be able to perform the job duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Ability to work extended scheduled hours Monday through Saturday with daily overtime. Must be able to work overtime as required. Start times and hours vary based on production needs.
• Must be able to successfully complete training: Safety, Safe Quality Food (SQF), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Food defense.

Responsibilities

• Receive and weigh cattle.
• All cattle must be inspected by I.I.C. (Inspector in charge).
• Move to pen.
• Move cattle from pens to chute.
• Check water in pens and feed if necessary.
• Move cattle through the chute into the restrainer.
• Wash cattle.
• Write information down for each new lot.
• Cattle must be handled at normal speed to avoid stress.
• Use of electrical prods will be limited.
• Use of rattle paddles or flags is acceptable.
• Move animals quietly.
