Job summary

Gibbon Packing, LLC, an American Foods Group Company, is seeking Yards at our Gibbon, NE plant to support daily operations and keep the yard area organized and safe.

You will perform duties such as emptying trash trailers, bail cardboard, delivering chemicals and lubricants, and cleaning dock areas. Overtime may be required based on production needs.

  • Able to work in varied temperatures and around moving equipment.
  • Able to perform the physical requirements of the job.
  • Able to work extended hours Monday through Saturday with overtime.
  • Must complete required training: Safety, SQF, GMPs, HACCP, SOPs, Food defense.

Responsibilities

  • Empty trash trailers and pick up debris around the yard and plant.
  • Bail cardboard, unload and move materials as needed.
  • Deliver chemicals and lubricants to appropriate areas.
  • Keep dock areas clean in morning and afternoon.
  • Unload equipment and material trucks as needed.
  • Assist in yard cleanup and maintenance tasks as required.

Overview

Gibbon Packing, LLC, an American Foods Group Company, has opportunities for Yards at our Gibbon, NE plant.

As Yards, You Will
  • Empty trash trailer.
  • Bail cardboard.
  • Deliver chemicals and lubricants
  • Clean off inedible dock in the morning and afternoon.
  • Pickup trash in the guard shack, front of plant, maintenance shop, maintenance office, truck shop, boiler room, engine room, rendering office, and pens.
  • Empty chemical barrels in racks.
  • Break down combos, dispose of trash, bail combos, gather pallets and take to pallet wash.
  • Trolley rebuild, cutting board resurfacing, barrel fan repairs.
  • Mowing, weed-eating, weed control.
  • Snow clean up, ice control barrels full, and equipment on call for snow removal.
  • Yard cleanup.
  • Fill spray barrel and jugs for pens.
  • Pick up shredded paper from office for disposal.
  • Put production supplies away in offal dock.
  • Unload equipment and material trucks as needed.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
  • Must be 18 of age years or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of work temperatures warm, hot, humid, cold, wet or with slippery surfaces at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job.
  • Ability to work extended scheduled hours Monday through Saturday with daily overtime. Must be able to work overtime as required. Start times and hours vary based on production needs.
  • Must be able to successfully complete training:
    • Safety.
    • Safe Quality Food (SQF).
    • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
    • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Food defense.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior maintenance experience in a USDA inspected beef, pork or poultry facility.
  • Prior production experience.
  • Work history in the last 12 months.
