Job summary

The Archdiocese of San Antonio is seeking a substitute teacher to ensure smooth education for students in the absence of the regular teacher. You will carry out lesson plans and adhere to school and archdiocesan policies, promoting faith-based education and maintaining confidentiality.

The position is temporary, reports to the principal, and requires fostering Gospel values while supporting classroom instruction and student wellbeing. Commitment to safety and team collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of substituting or teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
• Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
• Provide instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of students.
• Supervise students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, specials, hallways, on field trips, and/or during before and after school programs.
• Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher and school administration.
• Uses approved, corrective, and positive discipline procedures in dealing with inappropriate student conduct.
