Job summary

The Archdiocese of San Antonio is seeking a substitute teacher to support students in the absence of their regular teacher. You will carry out lesson plans, uphold Catholic education standards, and maintain classroom discipline while fostering a caring learning environment.

Responsibilities include supervising students, reinforcing instruction, attending to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs, and collaborating with school staff to support the mission of the Archdiocese.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1 year of substituting or teaching experience preferred.
• Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening; Must pass Texas DPS Fingerprint-based Applicant Clearinghouse screening.

Responsibilities

• Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
• Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Supports and adheres to the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees and policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
• Provide instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of students.
• Supervise students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, specials, hallways, on field trips, and/or during before and after school programs.
• Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher and school administration.
• Uses approved, corrective, and positive discipline procedures in dealing with inappropriate student conduct.
• Collaborates with school personnel to enhance the work environment and support academic programming.
• Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis.
