Job summary

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary School, part of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, is seeking a Substitute Teacher to provide classroom instruction, supervision, and support in the absence of the regular teacher.

Under the direction of the Principal, the substitute will uphold Catholic values, maintain a safe learning environment, and assist with technology and classroom routines while following lesson plans and school policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 20 college credit hours or equivalent experience/education.
• Previous classroom, teaching, childcare, coaching, or youth-related experience preferred.
• Substitute Teacher Certification is not required.
• Completion of the Archdiocese of St. Louis Prevent and Protect program is required.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular classroom teacher or school administration.
• Provide appropriate instruction and guidance to students in accordance with the teacher's lesson plans and established classroom expectations.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, orderly, and positive classroom environment.
• Demonstrate effective classroom management and address student behavior appropriately and consistently.
• Supervise students throughout the school day, including classroom activities, transitions, recess, lunch, and other assigned duties.
• Assist students with classroom assignments and activities as appropriate.
• Utilize classroom technology, including Smart Boards and other instructional technology, as needed to support the curriculum.
• Maintain established classroom routines, schedules, and expectations.
• Communicate appropriately and professionally with students, faculty, staff, and school administration.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, school operations, and other sensitive information.
• Follow all school and Archdiocesan policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Support the Catholic identity, mission, and values of Assumption School.
• Perform other duties and supervision responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
