Job summary

Archdiocese of St. Louis, in partnership with Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary School, seeks a Substitute Teacher to provide classroom instruction, supervision, and support in the absence of the regular teacher.

The role emphasizes modeling Catholic faith, respect, kindness, responsibility, and service while maintaining a safe, orderly learning environment. Candidates should possess strong communication, teamwork, initiative, and organizational skills; be able to use classroom technology

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication is required.
• Strong interpersonal and human-relations skills are essential.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school team.
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
• Proficiency in classroom management and student supervision.
• Willingness to learn and effectively use Smart Boards and other instructional tools.
• Ability to move throughout the school and fulfill supervision duties.
• Availability to work recess, lunch, arrival/dismissal and other supervision assignments.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular teacher or administration.
• Provide instruction and guidance aligned with classroom expectations.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly learning environment.
• Demonstrate effective classroom management and address student behavior.
• Supervise students throughout the school day and during activities.
• Assist students with assignments and activities as needed.
• Utilize classroom technology to support curriculum.
• Maintain routines, schedules, and expectations.
• Communicate professionally with students, staff, and administration.
• Maintain confidentiality of students and school operations.
• Follow school and Archdiocesan policies and safety requirements.
• Support the Catholic identity and mission of Assumption School.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
