Job summary

Advocate Health's Cardiac Services department seeks a Cardiovascular Technology professional to operate monitoring equipment, assist during interventional procedures, and support physicians in the cath lab. The role requires BLS/ACLS within 6 months and an associate degree in cardiovascular technology with typically 2 years in a cath lab.

Applicants must be able to handle fast-paced environments, demonstrate communication skills, and work with medical staff and fellows.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved basic ECG interpretation course within three months of hire.
• Advanced technical skills in monitoring, scrubbing and panning with proficiency in both Catheterization and Electrophysiology procedures (where required).
• Demonstrated ability to quickly change priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills to work effectively with physicians, patients and other staff members.

Responsibilities

• Operates all monitoring, recording and related equipment used during procedures.
• Collects and prepares pertinent data for use by physician/staff.
• Supports physician and staff during procedures.
• Monitors patient electrocardiogram for cardiac dysrhythmias.
• Operates the defibrillator and performs CPR when required.
• Provides assistance in emergency situations.
• Assists in pre and post procedure activities related to equipment and patient care.
• Positions patient and selects exposure factors for all radiographic procedures performed in the department.
