Job summary

Abrazo Arrowhead Campus Hospital seeks an experienced Cath Lab professional to perform direct and indirect cardiovascular care. The role includes scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating across invasive procedures in the Cath Lab, with training on structural heart cases.

Responsibilities include pre/post procedure assessments, care planning, patient/family teaching, and ensuring urgent care readiness. Minimum education and certifications are required; RCIS is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Radiology or equivalent required.
  • Basic EKG course required.
  • Must attend EKG, Hemodynamics, IABP classes within four months of hire.
  • 6 months Cath Lab experience; 1 year in cardiac cath/radiology care.
  • ARRT-CRT registration, BLS, ACLS within 6 months of hire.
  • Preferred: RCIS certification.
  • Bachelor in Radiology or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess physical, psychosocial, and growth/development needs; complete pre/intra/post procedure assessments.
  • Develop a care plan tailored to the procedure and patient needs.
  • Provide teaching to patient/family and staff; perform imaging setup and documentation.
  • Manage emergency patient care as needed; assist with IABP setup and care of temporary/permanent pacemakers.
  • Perform and supervise monitoring during invasive procedures and ensure priorities for patient care.

Job Summary
Position Summary

Performs direct and indirect functions in the Cardiac Cath Lab. Assists all physicians/staff with clinical and technical aspects of cardiovascular care. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned. Scrubs, monitors, and circulates in all invasive procedures in the Cath Lab. The department provides training on Structural Heart scrubbing. Able to function on all cardiac alerts and STEMI cases.

  • Assesses physical, psychosocial, and growth and development needs of the patient, completes pre, intra and post procedure assessment, informs nurse/MD of any changes in patient’s condition.
  • Develops a plan of care for procedure being performed, plan of care is individualized to include specific patient problems, needs and scheduled procedure.
  • Provides teaching and guidance to patient and/or family as well as staff members. Able to execute x-ray for desired views- abdominal aorta gram, runoff, division, storing and printing images, sets priorities for care of patients based on patient's needs and resources available, identifies and performs appropriately in emergency patient care solutions.
  • Knowledge of set up and monitoring of IABP, assists with set-up, insertion and care of temporary and permanent pacemakers.
  • Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned

      • Four team members for both working hours and on call teams (1 Scrub, 1 RT, 1 circulating RN, 1 Monitoring personnel)
    • Equipment
      • The department uses Philips x-ray equipment, Acist injectors, Philips IVUS/iFR, Xper Monitoring System, and Spacetrax Inventory System.
  • Minimum Requirements
    • Education:
      • Associate degree in Radiology or equivalent
      • Basic EKG course.
      • Must attend EKG, Hemodynamics, IABP classes within four months of hire.
    • Experience: 6 months in Cath Lab/Cardiac Intervention Lab, 1 year experience providing cardiac cath, radiology care
    • Licensure/Certifications:
      • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-CRT) registration
