Job summary

Nicklaushealth in Miami seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for the Cath Lab to plan and deliver care using nursing processes, assess and implement plans, and uphold quality aligned with Magnet standards for pediatric and adult patients.

The role requires FL RN licensure, BLS, PALS, ACLS, and 1 year of acute care experience. BSN preferred; Cerner EMR proficiency and strong communication are essential to collaborate with the care team.

Qualifications

BSN degree preferred or currently enrolled in BSN program.
Proficiency in computers, EMR (Cerner preferred).
National Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) and/or equivalent certification within 5 years of hire preferred.
Able to analyze and interpret data to make judgments regarding patient care.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to collaborate and hold self and others accountable.
Knowledge of operating external defibrillator/pacemaker.
Ability to apply evidence-based practice, analytical thinking, and service excellence in practice.
Able to take call in the Cath Lab and deliver high quality service.

Responsibilities

Performs pre-op assessments and documents vitals, weight, height, and labs.
Verifies parental consents for medications per policy.
Completes discharge planning per department and hospital policies.
Plans and implements the care plan in collaboration with other disciplines.
Administers and reconstitutes medications per policy; adheres to six rights of medication administration.
Collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team to provide safe, efficient care.
Monitors patient status during procedures and notifies physician of changes.
Prepares medications required for surgical field as per procedure.
Stays with patient during emergence and assists anesthesia.
Ensures Universal Protocol compliance and completes required documentation.
Performs surgical counts and checks implant expiration dates.
Monitors labs during cases (ACT, ABG, O2) and assists with positioning.
Interprets EKGs and responds to patient needs.
Maintains IV drips, intra-cardiac lines, central lines, chest tubes, and Foley catheters.
Communicates with physician about patient progress and discharge planning.
Provides patient/family education on health needs and safety.
