FirstHealth of the Carolinas in central North Carolina is seeking a CV Specialist (RN, Respiratory Therapist, Paramedic, or Radiology Tech) for the Cath Lab to prepare patients for electrophysiology procedures, set up equipment, assist with catheter placement, and monitor ECG during procedures.

The role emphasizes aseptic technique, data recording and analysis, and clear communication with the cardiology team.

Qualifications

• Two-year Allied Health program or 1 year Certificate in Surgical Technology or Associate Degree in Nursing (RN), Special Procedures, Respiratory Therapy, Paramedic, Radiology Technology with board eligibility.
• RN graduates must have a NC RN license or multi-state licensure via Licensure Compact.
• Prefer two years in Invasive Cardiovascular Lab with PTCA program or Critical Care; BLS and ACLS certified.
• Registry exam required within 18–24 months of date in position.

Responsibilities

• Patient preparation for electrophysiology procedures, including explaining the process and obtaining informed consent.
• Setting up and calibrating electrophysiology equipment; ensuring proper functionality.
• Assisting cardiologist with catheter placement within heart chambers to record electrical activity.
• Monitoring and interpreting real-time ECG readings; notifying physician of abnormalities.
• Recording procedural data including electrograms and hemodynamic measurements.
• Maintaining aseptic technique in EP lab.
• Monitoring patient vital signs and addressing complications.
• Communicating status and progress to cardiology team.
