Caterpillar Generator / Engine Technician (Field Technician II) (Finance)

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The primary responsibility of this position is to independently perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and advanced EPG repairs at customer sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Be well-versed in troubleshooting and repairing diesel/natural gas & LP engines and engine ECMs.
• Troubleshoot DC control panels, auxiliary display units, governors, and actuators.
• Read and comprehend AC and DC schematics related to engine/site-specific installations.
• Perform preventive maintenance and services on a variety of gensets and engines, including non-Cat products.
• Be aware of safety factors related to high-power circuits and adhere to all safety policies, including the company's safety work policy.
• Manage personal work schedule, including billing, completing paperwork (timecards, service reports, warranty info), and submitting parts orders.
• Maintain all assigned company property and submit expense records monthly.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High school diploma or GED.

Work Experience: At least six years of experience, with a minimum of four years on Cat engines or similar equipment.

Physical: Ability to perform physical tasks such as stooping, kneeling, bending, climbing, lifting up to 100 pounds, and using mechanical hoists.

Other: Ability to work remotely with rare trips to the dispatch office, write repair reports, and solve technical problems independently. Exposure to PC-based equipment and parts information is preferred. Effective communication skills are required.

Field Activity: Must operate a service vehicle, hold a valid driver’s license within 30 days of hire, and meet safe driving standards. Some positions may require a CDL and/or DOT medical certification.
