Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the main point of contact for client(s) on event day.
- Lead pre‑shift meetings with staff, covering event details, timelines, and expectations.
- Ensure staff are in proper uniform and maintain a professional appearance.
- Manage and support team members, problem‑solve in real time and perform under pressure.
- Oversee inventory of equipment, small wares, disposables and beverages.
- Read and interpret Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), identifying equipment needs, logistical challenges and coordinating with the culinary team.
- Track staff meal periods and delegate clear, concise instructions to team members.
- Supervise food and beverage service, including event setup and breakdown.
- Assist in planning, organizing and executing all event functions.
- Oversee general cleaning tasks to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Communicate with Facilities, Catering and Culinary teams regarding any last‑minute updates or changes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Catering Management.
- Follow and encourage team to follow all safety policies and procedures, report safety incidents to the risk management system (Origami Risk) on the same day and complete company‑wide safety training and any additional job‑specific safety training.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to make quick, accurate decisions.
- Ability to perform under pressure for extended periods while maintaining professionalism.
- Ability to interact with co‑workers to ensure compliance with company service standards.
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
- Knowledge of appropriate table settings, service ware and menu items.
- Must be able to read, speak and write English to communicate with guests.
- Physical ability to lift and transport items weighing 10–30 pounds, occasionally 50 pounds.
- Must have sufficient mobility to perform tasks including reaching, bending, stooping, wiping, pushing and pulling for extended periods.
- All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Required Certifications
- California Food Handlers Certification.
- California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification.
Compensation
$23.00 - $25.50 per hour.
