Job Description

The Catering Sous Chef will coordinate, plan, participate in, and supervise the production, preparation, and presentation of catered foods and banquets for a designated unit.

Compensation Data

COMPENSATION: The hourly rate for this position is $26.00 to $28.00. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer. This is Aramark’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Supervise and participate in the production, preparation, and presentation of all foods for assigned units to ensure consistent quality.
  2. Maintain sufficient inventory, record deliveries, handle discrepancies, and assist with storage.
  3. Ensure proper handling of all food products and equipment to adhere to food safety and kitchen standards.
  4. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards at all times.
  5. Interview, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach, and counsel staff; resolve problems; communicate openly; and recommend discipline as appropriate.

Qualifications
  • Two to three years’ banquet/catering experience in a related culinary role.
  • Post-high school education, preferably with a culinary degree.
  • Advanced knowledge of food principles and practices.
  • Experience in managing people and solving problems.
  • Excellent communication skills in reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Willingness to be hands-on with staff and operations, including working evenings and weekends.
  • Must have New York Food Handlers Certification.
