Job summary

Meriwether Godsey is seeking Temporary/On-Call Catering Servers for Sweet Briar College in Amherst, VA. Shifts are 7am-3pm or 4pm-10pm; on-call with weekend availability. Pay is $16-$18 per hour based on experience. This role supports banquet service, guest greeting, beverage and food service, and post-event cleanup.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, catering/serving experience, strong communication, and the ability to work flexible locations and lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Previous catering/serving experience preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Flexibility to work at multiple locations and shifts.
• Ability to stand, move for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Set up tables, linens, chairs and stations for events.
• Greet guests and respond to requests courteously.
• Serve and replenish beverages and foods in order; clear dishes.
• Perform cleaning tasks and breakdown of service; maintain safety.
• Reset banquet areas for subsequent functions as directed.

Meriwether Godsey is looking for Temporary/On-Call Catering Servers; individuals who enjoy providing our guests with the finest food and drink, accompanied by an attentive and positive attitude at Sweet Briar College in Amherst, VA.

• Temporary/On-Call
• Must be available to work: 7am-3pm OR 4pm-10pm (weekdays & weekends)
• $16-$18 per hour (based on experience)

What you will do:

• Set up tables, linens, chairs, and serving stations for full-service banquet events
• Greet and welcome guests, and respond to specific requests in a courteous manner
• Serve and replenish beverages and foods in the designated order and quickly remove dishes and utensils at the end of each course, meal, or function
• Perform cleaning tasks and breakdown of service; maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness
• Reset banquet areas as specified by Management to ensure readiness for other functions.

What you need:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous catering and/or serving experience required
• Excellent communication and good organizational skills
• Flexibility: the ability to switch between locations and job duties
• Ability to stand/move about for long periods of time and lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to handle high-volume customers
• Reliable Transportation
• Ability to work nights and weekends on an on-call as-needed basis
