Abigail Kirsch in New York, NY seeks an experienced Catering Sales Manager to drive development and growth of the catering department. You will supervise the event planning process from inquiry to execution, actively sell the venue, and maintain strong relationships with internal clients.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience overseeing high-volume food and beverage/catering operations.
• Experience in entrepreneurial and corporate business environments.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple catering levels in a very dynamic environment.
• Hands-on approach with a passion for the business.
• Strong communication with coworkers, management, vendors and clients.
• Flexibility to work a schedule that meets business needs.
• Proficiency in opening/closing procedures and food & beverage knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Work independently to develop new client relationships and initiate sales opportunities.
• Complete monthly KPIs for prospecting and outbound sales efforts.
• Attend networking groups and events.
• Maintain positive internal and external client relationships and liaison as necessary.
• Field incoming leads, provide preliminary quotes, negotiate and close sales.
• Finalize staffing needs and event details for individually sold events.
• Collect all monies and deposits prior to upcoming events.
• Coordinate event execution, staffing, and liaison with client, kitchen, staff and vendors.
• Create catering proposals covering menu, beverage, staff, and equipment rental.
• Participate in client meetings/sales calls and follow up.
• Conduct tastings as needed.
• Track lost business and inquiries to understand trends.
• Collaborate with onsite team to support events.
• Aim to achieve yearly sales goals set by unit leader.
• Monitor event profitability to ensure compliance with standards and budgets.
• Ensure deposits/payments reflect company policies.
• Monitor staffing levels to maintain service standards.
• Run reports to analyze business and upcoming event calendars.
