REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF SALES & MARKETING

SALARY: $65,000-$70,000 Annually

POSITION SUMMARY:

A successful Kelber Catering Sales Manager oversees sales, customer relations, and setup for all assigned groups. They must be knowledgeable in all aspects of industry services. They will collaborate with clients to determine their food and beverage selections while identifying and securing upsell opportunities. The Catering Sales Manager partners with all departments to exceed client expectations and ensure repeat bookings.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the primary contact with clients to coordinate food, beverage needs, and logistics.
  • Negotiate special requests with clients in partnership with the Director of Sales and Marketing to maximize profitability.
  • Coordinate with operations departments to present menu proposals and price quotes accurately.
  • Detail and issue information via Banquet Event Orders (BEO) to clients and staff, requesting signed documents by the contract deadline.
  • Collect required deposits and signed contracts within the contracted timeframe.
  • Obtain client guarantees within the specified timelines.
  • Manage assigned events to ensure food and beverage details are communicated properly to clients and the operations team.
  • Communicate all changes and additions promptly to the operations team.
  • Prepare billing, track collection of final payments, and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Supervise assigned events and coordinate with other catering sales staff and departments as needed.
  • Review and enforce all Kelber Catering policies and procedures.
  • Plan and coordinate food tastings.
  • Attend staff meetings, including MCC Operations, Department Meetings, and other relevant gatherings.
  • Participate in planning meetings for assigned groups.
  • Generate accurate reports of assigned business for forecasting, maintaining a +/- 6% accuracy, monthly for rolling forecasts.
  • Work proficiently with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and database systems.
  • Understand sales office procedures, including roles of coordinator and catering administrative assistant.
  • Operate all relevant software programs such as EBMS, Caterease, Net Viewpoint, and any new systems Kelber Catering adopts.
  • CPCE or CMP designations are preferred.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the Director of Sales and Marketing or GM/CEO.

PREREQUISITES:

  • Availability: Fully available, 7 days a week as needed per schedule.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; college or higher preferred.
  • Experience: At least two years of management and sales experience in catering, hotel, or convention center settings, preferably high volume.
  • Physical: Refer to the attached Functional Capacities Evaluation for this position.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Moderate to advanced knowledge of food, beverage, and service styles; wines; and revenue forecasting.
