Job summary

Brown University is seeking an Assistant Director of Catering Operations to oversee planning and organization of Brown Dining’s catering division. You will lead a team of managers, supervisors and union staff, promoting collaboration, trust and accountability while delivering high-quality, on-trend menu packages at events.

Work with OUC and Communications and Outreach to market services, manage the budget and pricing, ensure compliance with safety standards, and report to the Vice President of

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in food service or catering.
• Experience managing in a union environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of managers, supervisors and union staff, promoting collaboration and accountability.
• Ensure staff are TIPS and food safety certified and compliant with training requirements.
• Oversee menu development, service quality, and budget adherence.
• Develop programs to increase community engagement and sales.
• Review sales data and post-event billing and feedback.
• Coordinate staffing, equipment, and event logistics.
