Job summary

Utah State University in Logan, UT is hiring a Catering Kitchen Prep Cook to prepare meals for campus events and potentially assist the Aggie Marketplace. The role requires maintaining high food-safety standards, presenting dishes per event specs, and working with a flexible schedule including mornings and evenings.

Hours are variable and pay is based on experience; benefits are limited as this is a non-benefited, hourly position.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for preparing meals for events for University Catering and may include some additional work with the Aggie Marketplace. Duties include:

• Ensuring proper food handling procedures and adhering to quality expectations
• Keeping work station clean, orderly, and sanitized
• Plating and presenting food as specified for each event
• Cooking meats, sauces, starches, and vegetables
• Help other areas during busy times
• Other duties assigned

This position requires moderate physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds), walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting. This position requires nearly continuous standing, repetitive hand motions, and reaching overhead. Employees may be exposed to unusual elements including extreme temperatures, steam, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Employee are required to use utensils and equipment relating to food service operations.
