Job summary

Butler's Pantry in St. Louis, MO is seeking an Event Manager to oversee client catering events from contract through execution and provide on-site support. You will coordinate with culinary, operations, and sales teams to ensure flawless event experiences and timely BEO production.

The Event Manager is responsible for the maintenance and execution of client catering events and oversight of social and corporate events. The Event Manager will also take an active role in administration of event related correspondence and on-site support of events. This includes fostering key relationships and contacts to ensure the achievement of increased company value and reputation. The scope of this position includes supporting the integrity of Butler's Pantry's services, in both sales and event experiences.

Your COMMITMENT To Us

EMBRACE YOUR TYPE-A (The necessary)

  • Coordinate with culinary, operations, accounting and purchasing departments throughout the life of the event
  • Work with the Sales Manager or Director to ensure accurate and timely creation and administration of BEOs in an orderly manner
  • Develop floor plan designs, provide logistical support and actively support the preliminary planning process
  • Become fluent in catering software (Caterease), diagramming software (Prism), staffing software (Nowsta) and any other technology as required
  • Interact regularly with supervisors to ensure individual growth priorities are aligned with company business strategy
  • Communicate via phone calls, emails and in person with prospective and existing clientele in a warm and effective, yet professional manner
SHOW YOUR STUFF (The Fun)
  • Oversee catered events, from contract through execution; keeping in mind the importance of follow up
  • Show the client you've got their back, and then take over primary communications from the Sales Manager
  • Provide input and expertise in the event sales and planning process- as required, including necessary feedback from culinary, operations, accounting, purchasing, marketing & design departments
  • Plan and attend site visits to create the perfect event design to knock your clients' socks off
  • Get to know your clients, and develop relationships that will enable you to execute events beyond your wildest imagination
  • Identify critical issues and potential problems before they occur, troubleshoot the unexpected
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks
TAKE THE LEAD, FINISH THE RACE (The difference)
  • Set an example for and support service staff members, clients and guests at event
  • Be confident fielding questions on-site from vendors, planners, clients or fellow team members
  • Model appropriate behavior and encourage team members to follow suit

Additional Qualifications And Requirements

Completion of Degree or Certificate program from an accredited institution and 2 to 4 years relevant experience are preferred. This position requires the following competencies for success:

  • Mathematical skills - ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages and ability to apply concepts of basic algebra
  • Ability to reason and apply common sense understanding to work dynamics and ability to address customer personalities in various business situations
  • Passion for event planning and commitment to on-going education in the event and food service industry
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with all departments to ensure events are secured and advanced efficiently and with high quality
