Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp is seeking a Cook for our food service operation to plan, prepare, and execute daily entrées and catering menu items, while maintaining high quality and strong customer service. You will manage inventory, ensure food safety, and collaborate with leadership and staff to support efficient operations.

Responsibilities include coordinating catering events, assisting with menu planning, and using catering management systems to process orders and records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; culinary degree, culinary certification, or related education preferred.
• Minimum of four (4) years of food service, culinary, catering, hospitality, or related experience required.
• Experience in fast-paced, high-volume food service, catering, or institutional dining environment required.
• ServSafe Manager Certification required or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
• Proficiency with MS Office; experience with food service ordering systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and execute daily entrées and catering menu items with high quality.
• Coordinate the setup, delivery, retrieval, and breakdown of catering events.
• Assist customers with catering menu selection and event planning.
• Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer service.
• Demonstrate knowledge of food safety, inventory management, procurement, and menu planning.
• Maintain a safe, professional kitchen and comply with food safety regulations.
• Organize multiple daily tasks while meeting deadlines.
• Use catering management systems to process orders and maintain records.
• Provide exceptional customer service and build relationships with stakeholders.
• Resolve operational issues and implement solutions to improve service.
• Pursue ongoing knowledge of culinary techniques and industry trends.
• Support standardization and efficiency across food service operations.
• Provide guidance and training to coworkers to promote teamwork.
• Serve as backup for weekly inventory procurement.
• Assist with weekly menu planning, cost control, inventory management.
• Support FirstEnergy core values and safety culture.
