Job summary

FirstEnergy in Ohio is seeking a Food Service Assistant to support daily café and catering operations, maintain a clean and safe food service environment, handle inventory, and assist with catering delivery and setup.

The role emphasizes food safety, customer service, teamwork, and learning foundational food service skills, including sanitation, product rotation, and proper knife handling. High school diploma required; ServSafe certification within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, and stand for extended periods.
• ServSafe Manager Certification must be obtained within six months of hire if not currently held.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform kitchen utility and sanitation functions, including sorting, washing, sanitizing, and storing dishes and equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and work area in accordance with FDA Food Code and company standards.
• Assist with cleaning and sanitation of food prep, service, and storage areas.
• Maintain café inventory and presentation by stocking grab-and-go items and beverages.
• Support catering operations through delivery, setup, and breakdown of orders within the facility.
• Follow established procedures and provide operational support as needed.
• Demonstrate FirstEnergy Core Values in daily work, promoting safety, respect, inclusivity, and customer focus.
• Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with customers and supporting a positive café experience.
