Job summary

Dollar Tree Stores is seeking a Category Merchant at our corporate office to develop assortment, execute merchandising strategy, and implement plans for Dollar Tree stores. You will drive the category through vendor selection, promotional planning, and cross-functional collaboration.

The role requires 3–6 years in buying at a large retailer, a BA/BS degree, and strong market/trend analysis, with opportunities for annual bonus based on performance.

Qualifications

• 3 to 6 years’ experience at the Buyer level preferred with a large volume/specialty/mass retailer.
• Bachelor's degree (BA / BA / BFA) or equivalent
• Retail/discount merchandising
• Merchandise planning, assortment planning, and category management experience
• Market and trend analysis experience
• Creativity – big idea development
• Proven vendor management skills (sourcing, relationship building, product pricing, product development); strong negotiating skills

Responsibilities

• Develop the assortment, execute the merchandising strategy, and implement merchandising plans for Dollar Tree stores.
• Collaborate with Global Sourcing to identify new sources of supply, prepare for buying trips, select vendors, and negotiate costs.
• Sign off on plan-o-guides, display guides, flow guides, and planners for assigned responsibilities.
• Conduct Weekly Business Reviews of assigned responsibilities and participate in Monthly P&L performance reviews.
• Mentor and develop the Merchandising organization and the Category Team.
• Identify potential merchandising business and systems improvement initiatives.
