Job summary

Dollar Tree’s corporate office is seeking a Category Merchant to develop assortment and execute merchandising plans for Dollar Tree stores. You will define strategy, select products for banners and channels, and collaborate with Global Sourcing to identify suppliers and negotiate costs.

You will lead Weekly Business Reviews and Monthly P&L reviews, mentor the merchandising team, and drive opportunities to improve performance across departments and banners.

Qualifications

• 3 to 6 years’ experience at the Buyer level preferred with a large volume/specialty/mass retailer.
• Bachelor's degree (BA / BA / BFA) or equivalent Retail/discount merchandising
• Merchandise planning, assortment planning, and category management experience
• Market and trend analysis experience
• Creativity – big idea development
• Proven vendor management skills (sourcing, relationship building, product pricing, product development); strong negotiating skills

Responsibilities

• Develop the assortment, execute the merchandising strategy, and implement merchandising plans for Dollar Tree stores.
• Define Category Strategy and ensure alignment with Corporate strategy and financial objectives.
• Define assortment and select products for banners, channels, countries, and departments.
• Identify, develop and procure products to drive performance of assigned banners/channels/departments.
• Collaborate with Global Sourcing to identify new sources, prep for buying trips, select vendors, and negotiate costs.
• Sign off on plan-o-guides, display guides, flow guides, and planners for assigned responsibilities.
• Lead Weekly Business Reviews and Monthly P&L reviews; mentor the Category Team and drive merchandising initiatives.
