Job summary

American Airlines is hiring a Category Manager/Sr Category Manager in Fort Worth, TX. You will lead strategic sourcing and negotiations for procurement benefits, partnering with internal teams and suppliers to drive cost savings and value.

You'll manage cross-functional projects, expand your procurement expertise, and engage senior leadership on key sourcing initiatives within a high-performing team in the Finance Division's Procurement Excellence group.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
• 3 years contracts negotiations and management experience
• Masters of Business Administration

This role is a member of the Procurement Excellence within the Finance Division. This role serves as a key commercial liaison for American Airlines, managing strategic business transactions with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers. The Analyst/Sr. Analyst is responsible for negotiating and implementing long-term purchase agreements, fostering supplier partnerships, and ensuring contract outcomes deliver measurable value.

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
• 3 years contracts negotiations and management experience

• Ability to be self-directed and resourceful with the ability to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks with exhibited follow through and initiative
• Knowledge of advanced business understanding particularly in project management, commodity markets, early supplier involvement, total cost management and financial analysis
• Knowledge of ROI, total cost of ownership, 7 steps strategic sourcing to conduct analysis, problem solving, forecasting and quality improvement
• Skills in organizational and interpersonal dealings
• Ability to demonstrate attention to detail with excellent follow-up
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• Ability to demonstrate high ethical standards
• Ability to be a self- starter with high sense of urgency and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
