Job summary

Applied Underwriters, headquartered in Omaha, NE, seeks a CAT Modeling Analyst to manage catastrophe exposure data across lines of business and to apply policy conditions using catastrophe modeling software. The role emphasizes data cleansing, validation, and in-depth analysis of client exposure against various perils, with collaboration to integrate reinsurance structures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • Two or more years of property catastrophe modeling experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry.
  • Experience modeling natural catastrophe perils and analyzing catastrophe model output.
  • Insurance and/or reinsurance experience and an understanding of underwriting concepts.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server, Microsoft Excel, and catastrophe modeling software; Verisk Touchstone experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Excel automation, VBA, or other scripting/programming tools.
  • Casualty catastrophe modeling experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and analyze catastrophe exposure data across lines of business.
  • Cleansen, validate, and prepare CAT data; apply policy conditions.
  • Model and quantify natural catastrophe risk with catastrophe modeling software.
  • Collaborate with team members to incorporate reinsurance structures into modeling and exposure management.
