$66,625.00-$106,427.00*

Salary range is for this level and may vary based on actual level of role hired for.
*This range represents a national range and the actual salary will depend on several factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the skills, education, training, credentials, location, and experience of an applicant, as well as level of role for which the successful candidate is hired. Position may be eligible for an annual bonus payment.

Position Summary

Exercises independent discretion or judgment in handling all types of catastrophe property claims. Also assists assigned field office when not on catastrophe deployment in handling day-to-day property claims.

  • This is a work-from-home position and applications are accepted within the entire ERIE Operating Footprint, which includes PA, NY, MD/DC, NC, VA, WV, TN, WI, IL, IN, OH, and KY.
  • The majority of responsibilities will require travel throughout the ERIE footprint.

Duties and Responsibilities

Establishes contact with Policyholders regarding their loss, driving to damage sites within the assigned territory or as required.

Sets and manages reserves within designated authority.

Identifies and assesses damages, determines liability and total claim value.

Prepares estimates for damages, and coordinates scope of work and repair costs with contractors and Policyholders.

Documents all claim activities and submits final reports for closure.

Decides or declines payments, issues checks, and negotiates claims with attorneys when necessary.

Supervises handling of property losses by independent adjusters, providing guidance as needed.

Attends industry training to stay current on legal and regulatory developments.

Supports field offices when not on catastrophe duty, bringing claims to conclusion.

Maintains operational readiness of assigned vehicle(s).

The first five duties listed are essential functions necessary for job performance.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Five years of claims handling experience, including two years in property claims, required. Knowledge of structural damage repair and valuation techniques preferred. AIC certification and proficiency with estimating software (preferably Symbility) are advantageous. Valid driver’s license and good driving record are required. Must reside within the assigned territory unless approved otherwise. Position involves frequent travel, including short-notice deployments.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift/move 0-20 lbs frequently; 20-50 lbs often; over 50 lbs using equipment; frequent driving; occasional pushing/pulling; and climbing. Data entry and computer use are also required.
