San Diego State University is seeking a detail-oriented Cataloging Specialist to join the Discovery Services team. The role involves complex copy cataloging for a diverse collection and ensuring resources are accurately described and discoverable.

Working under the Head of Discovery Services, you will apply standards (RDA, AACR2, MARC21), maintain records, and contribute to catalog maintenance projects while collaborating with librarians and colleagues to support teaching, learning, and research

Qualifications

• Experience applying cataloging standards (RDA, MARC21, AACR2) in a library setting.
• Familiarity with Dewey Decimal and Library of Congress classification.
• Proficiency with OCLC Connexion and library management systems.
• Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 40 pounds.

Responsabilités

• Perform complex copy cataloging for physical and electronic materials.
• Update bibliographic records using OCLC, including headings and authorities.
• Apply cataloging standards (RDA, AACR2, MARC21) and local policies.
• Manage Alma records and ensure discoverability via Primo.
• Maintain serials and holdings records.
• Participate in catalog cleanup and record enhancement projects.
• Collaborate with librarians to support cataloging workflows.
