Job summary

Alcorn State University is seeking a Technician, Catalog to support the library's cataloging operations. This role handles acquiring materials, creating bibliographies, and managing catalog records, with responsibilities including searching, editing, exporting, and ordering catalog cards from OCLC.

Responsibilities also cover importing bibliographic records, creating holding/item records, and overseeing physical processing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• One year related experience.
• Knowledge of library policies and procedures helpful.
• Dewey Decimal classification system familiarity desirable.
• Proficiency with MS Office and typing speed of 55 wpm.

Responsibilities

• Process newly acquired materials and create bibliographies.
• Search, edit, export, and order catalog cards from OCLC.
• Import bibliographic records.
• Create holding and/or item records.
• Oversee physical processing of cataloging materials.
• Withdraw outdated materials from collections.
• Maintain Self List card file.
• Work at Circulation Desk on rotational nights and weekends.
• Other related duties as assigned.
