Job summary

Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, West Virginia, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Cat Scan (CT) Tech for a PRN schedule. The role involves reviewing orders, educating patients, administering contrast, and ensuring safety and image quality.

On-call availability is required with rapid facility access. The ideal candidate holds a 2-year certificate/associates/bachelor's in radiologic technology, WV Radiation Operator Certificate, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

  • Education: 2-year certificate or higher (AS/BS) in radiologic technology.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Licenses: WV Radiation Operator Certificate; ARRT in Radiology.
  • On-Call: must accept on-call assignments and report within 30 minutes.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient history and physician orders.
  • Educate patients about procedures, equipment, and exams.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media under scope of practice.
  • Monitor patient condition and respond to status changes.
  • Prepare equipment and supplies; ensure safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and report issues.
  • Position patient and perform imaging procedures; assess image quality.

How you'll contribute
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educatepatientregarding procedures, equipment andexamto ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepareequipment and supplies.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
  • Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

What we're looking for
  • Education: Two (2) year certificate,associatedegree and/or Baccalaureate degree
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Licenses: CurrentRadiation Operator Certificate in the state of West Virginia. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiology.
  • On-Call Availability: Must accepton-callassignments for regularly scheduled shifts and be available to report tofacilitywithin 30 minutes of notification. This status will be determined by thetechnologiston duty.
  • Required Skills:
    • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Mustbe able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
