Job summary

Raleigh General Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Cat Scan (CT) Tech to join a team dedicated to delivering high-quality imaging services. The role includes reviewing orders, educating patients, administering contrast as needed, and ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Ideal candidates will hold the required education and WV radiology license, be able to work in a fast-paced setting, and participate in on-call assignments with prompt facility access.

Qualifications

• Education: Two (2) year certificate, associated degree and/or Baccalaureate degree.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Licenses: West Virginia Radiation Operator Certificate; ARRT Radiology certification.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
• Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding.
• Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice when ordered.
• Monitors patient condition continually and reports changes as appropriate.
• Prepares equipment and supplies for imaging.
• Implements safety standards and performs quality control procedures on equipment.
• Troubleshoots, resolves, and reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
• Positions patient and performs imaging procedures.
• Analyzes results and identifies issues with image quality.
• Takes action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedures.
• Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

How you'll contribute

As a Cat Scan (CT) Tech who excels in this role:

• Reviews patient history and physician's orders.

• Educate patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.

• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
• Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
• Prepare equipment and supplies.

What we're looking for

• Education: Two (2) year certificate, associated degree and/or Baccalaureate degree

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)

• Licenses: Current Radiation Operator Certificate in the state of West Virginia. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiology.

• On-Call Availability: Must accept on-call assignments for regularly scheduled shifts and be available to report to facility within 30 minutes of notification. This status will be determined by the technologist on duty.

• Required Skills:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
