Job summary

Ottumwa Regional Health Center, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Cat Scan Technician to support imaging exams and patient care in a busy radiology department. You will review orders, educate patients, prepare contrast, monitor status, and ensure image quality with proper safety protocols.

Your responsibilities include operating CT equipment, troubleshooting issues, and reporting results while maintaining compassionate patient interactions and adherence to regulations.

Qualifications

  • Two-year certificate, associate's degree, or bachelor’s degree in a radiologic technology-related field.
  • Current Radiation Operator Certificate in state of practice; ARRT certification in Radiology and CT.
  • BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient history and physician orders to plan exams.
  • Educate patients about procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within scope of practice.
  • Monitor patient condition and respond to changes appropriately.
  • Prepare equipment, perform QC checks, and ensure safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and report malfunctions.
  • Position patients and perform imaging procedures.
  • Analyze imaging results, identify quality issues, and make adjustments as needed.
  • Enter, transmit, and report scan results.

How You'll Contribute

A Cat Scan Technician who excels in this role:

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patients on procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice when ordered.
  • Monitors patient condition and responds to changes appropriately.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies; implements safety standards and performs quality control checks.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions.
  • Positions patients and performs imaging procedures.
  • Analyzes imaging results, identifies quality issues, and takes corrective action, including repositioning patients and repeating procedures if needed.
  • Enters, transmits, and reports scan results.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: Two-year certificate, Associate's degree, or Baccalaureate degree.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current Radiation Operator Certificate in state of practice; registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiology and Computed Tomography; BLS required.
