Job summary

Los Alamos Medical Center seeks a Cat Scan (CT) Technician as part of Lifepoint Health. This role offers a $20,000 sign-on bonus for a twenty-four-month full-time commitment and a path to professional impact in northern New Mexico.

The position includes responsible patient education, contrast administration within scope, safety monitoring, image QA, and effective communication of results to clinicians.

Qualifications

• Two-year certificate, associate's or bachelor's degree required.
• BLS certification current on hire.
• Current Radiation Operator Certificate in New Mexico.
• ARRT Radiology (R) and CT certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
• Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam.
• Prepares and administers contrast media within scope of practice.
• Monitors patient condition and reports changes as appropriate.
• Prepares equipment and supplies; ensures safety standards.
• Performs imaging procedures and analyzes results for quality.
• Operates, troubleshoots and reports equipment malfunctions.

How you'll contribute

A Cat Scan (CT) Technician who excels in this role:

Reviews patient history and physician's orders.

Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.

When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.

Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.

Prepares equipment and supplies.

Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.

Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).

Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.

Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.

Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a two-year certificate, associate's degree, or bachelor's degree.

Additional requirements include:

Certification/License:

Basic Life Support (BLS) current upon hire.

Current Radiation Operator Certificate in New Mexico

Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) in Radiology (R) and Computed Tomography (CT)
