You will engage residents, model healthy coping skills, and assist with childcare and daily tasks while maintaining confidentiality and a professional demeanour. The role requires a high school diploma (two years paid experience) and PA driver’s license; certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least two years of paid experience.
  • Certified Addiction Counselor or Certified Recovery Specialist preferred.
  • Must have computer skills and ability to use MS Word/Outlook.
  • Act 33/34 clearances and FBI clearance required to work with children.
  • Valid PA driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Engage, interact and support women in our recovery program with professionalism.
  • Model and support health and wellness activities and coping skills.
  • Transport women to appointments as needed.
  • Assist with childcare and basic household management.
  • Handle confidential information discreetly and balance daily tasks.
  • Maintain a positive, solution-focused demeanor during conflicts.

Overview

Sojourner House, located in Pittsburgh for more than 30 years, offers compassionate, faith-based recovery services to women and their children.We’re looking for two Full-Time Recovery Support Specialist to join our team. If you have care and compassion, balanced with support and structure, you could be a great fit! Together, we can help women to successfully achieve their recovery goals.

The Recovery Specialist provides women and their children with supportive services. You'll get the chance to make a difference through teaching, guiding and monitoring residents to ensure their safety and best opportunity for recovery.

We are looking for one person for each shift: 2:30 PM-10:30 PM and 6:30 AM-2:30 PM

What you'll do:
  • Engage, interact and support women in our recovery program, while maintaining a positive, professional, and client-focused manner with a diverse population.
  • Model and support clients and staff in health and wellness activities and with using healthy coping skills.
  • Transport women in recovery to and from appointments, as needed.
  • Help with childcare and support women with basic household management skills.
  • Must be able to discretely handle confidential information and prioritize and balance daily tasks.
  • Must be able to maintain a positive, solution-focused demeanor when responding to conflicts or problems.
  • Support organization’s mission with a sensitivity of cultural diversity and workplace harmony.
  • Provide gender-responsive, trauma-informed and recovery oriented systems of care.
Education/Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required with at least two years of applicable paid experience required.
  • Certified Addiction Counselor and or Certified Recovery Specialist preferred.
  • Must possess computer skills and administrative duties including the ability to learn and record all relevant software programs for the position (ex. Microsoft, Word, Outlook email).
  • To work with children, you'll need to obtain Act 33 and 34 clearances, FBI clearance.
  • Valid PA driver’s license.
