UPMC Chautauqua seeks a phlebotomist to join our team on a casual, per diem basis with variable shifts. Prior phlebotomy training is highly preferred for this role.

The phlebotomist will perform specimen collection for inpatients and outpatients, enter demographic and test orders into information systems, transport specimens, and assist with clerical tasks under the supervision of Medical Technologists. The role requires attentiveness to patient identification, safety, and quality procedures,

Formación

• Phlebotomy training preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Perform venipuncture, heelstick and fingerstick as required for inpatients/outpatients.
• Enter demographic information and test orders into information systems.
• Transport specimens to appropriate laboratory sections following safety procedures.
• Assist with clerical duties and other laboratory operations as needed.
• Train and orient new employees, students and residents when assigned.
• Inform staff of unusual or problematic incidents as they arise.
• May perform arterial puncture following strict collection guidelines.
