Job summary

UPMC Passavant is seeking a Casual Nursing Assistant to support patient care on 3 Main. You will perform ADLs, vital signs, specimen collection, and telemetry under RN direction.

This role emphasizes teamwork, infection control, and compassionate supervision, with duties including meal delivery, patient transport, and unit support over a 6-week cycle of 36 hours.

Qualifications

• Provides direct patient care under RN direction.
• Performs essential nursing tasks like ADLs and vitals.
• Cares for patients with telemetry and specimen collection.
• Maintains infection control and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN direction, including ADLs, vital signs, point-of-care testing, telemetry application, and specimen collection
• Assist with daily patient and unit needs (e.g., responding to call lights, meal delivery, patient transport, and basic activities)
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized patient environment, following infection control and safety protocols
• Monitor patients and report changes, concerns, or equipment malfunctions promptly
• Document care accurately and complete clerical duties as needed
• Support unit operations by obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to support coordinated care
• Demonstrate professionalism by building positive relationships, accepting feedback, and seeking opportunities for growth
• Respond to emergent situations and provide patient supervision or companionship as appropriate

Title and rate of pay will be determined based upon individual qualifications, experience, and education. The minimum hourly starting rates for each level are as follows:

• Care Attendant: $18.19
• Nursing Assistant: $18.59
• Patient Care Technician: $18.99
• Patient Care Technician, Senior: $19.19

Responsibilities:
