Job summary

Triple Canopy in Minnesota seeks experienced firearms training professionals to deliver instructor-led courses under an FAA contract. The role involves frequent travel to multiple locations, conducting classroom and range training, and ensuring safety and compliance with company standards.

Candidates must have six years in training, the ability to pass a drug screen and background check, and be legally able to carry a firearm with a MN Permit to Carry.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provides instruction for Firearms and Tactics courses utilizing prescribed curriculum.
• Updates course curriculum as directed by Senior Instructor and/or Management staff.
• Lead Instructs/Assistant Instructor for all Core Curriculum Courses and all Contracted Courses.
• Teaches customized training courses.
• Conducts mobile training, multiple locations in the U.S.
• Explains and demonstrates use of apparatus and equipment, to include firearms.
• Evaluates the abilities of individual participants to determine suitable corrective or remedial training.
• Maintains overall safety and organization of the training environment.
• Ensures safety of students and compliance with company policy, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Identifies training requirements to maintain certifications and completes refresher training programs.
• Completes any additional training/certifications required by government or contract.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Travel is required; outdoor range work with varying hours.

POSITION SUMMARY

The position requires regular travel to various locations to conduct training classes in support of the FAA contract in MN.

COMPENSATION

Up to $70.00/ HR

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides instruction for Firearms and Tactics courses utilizing prescribed curriculum
• Updates course curriculum as directed by Senior Instructor and/or Management staff
• Lead Instructs/Assistant Instructor for all Core Curriculum Courses and all Contracted Courses
• Teaches customized training courses
• Conducts mobile training. To include multiple locations in the U.S.
• Explains and demonstrates use of apparatus and equipment, to include firearms
• Evaluates the abilities of individual participants to determine suitable corrective or remedial training
• Maintains overall safety and organization of the training environment
• Ensures safety of students. Communicates and oversees compliance with company policy, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Ensures accountability for all training equipmentIdentifies in a timely manner training requirements needed to maintain required certifications and company standards, and completes all required continuing education and refresher training programs
• Completes any additional training and/or certifications required by the government or the contract
• Other duties as assigned

Work is typically on an outdoor range under various weather conditions, trainers will be required to climb stairs, carry equipment, work varying hours and under tight time constraints. Although business work hours are usually 8:00 am to 5:00pm, there may be night and or weekend hours as required.

May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending. Travel is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• U.S. Citizenship required
• Minimum of six years of experience in a training environment
• Must be able to pass a drug screening, background check and be legally able to carry a firearm
• MN Permit to Carry
• Basic proficiency in MS Office
• Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
• Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
• Experience developing lesson plans preferred
• Experience as an Instructor in an armed security environment preferred
