Job summary

Triple Canopy is seeking an instructor to deliver Firearms and Tactics courses under an FAA contract in Michigan. The role involves traveling to diverse locations to conduct training classes and lead or assist in core curriculum delivery.

You will update curricula, teach customized training, and ensure safety and compliance across the training environment. Expect outdoor range work, varying hours, and travel as required.

Qualifications

• Experience developing lesson plans is preferred.
• Experience as an Instructor in an armed security environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides instruction for Firearms and Tactics courses utilizing prescribed curriculum
• Updates course curriculum as directed by Senior Instructor and/or Management staff
• Lead Instructs/Assistant Instructor for Core Curriculum and contracted courses
• Teaches customized training courses
• Conducts mobile training at multiple locations in the U.S.
• Explains and demonstrates use of apparatus and equipment, including firearms
• Evaluates participant abilities for corrective or remedial training
• Maintains safety and organization of the training environment
• Ensures safety and compliance with company policy and safety guidelines
• Ensures accountability for training equipment
• Identifies training requirements and completes continuing education
• Completes any additional training and/or certifications required by government or contract
• Work may include outdoor range, varying hours, night/weekend hours, and travel
• Lift up to 25 lbs; intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, bending; travel required
• Other duties as assigned

POSITION SUMMARY

The position requires regular travel to various locations to conduct training classes in support of the FAA contract in MI.

COMPENSATION

Up to $70.00/ HR

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides instruction for Firearms and Tactics courses utilizing prescribed curriculum
• Updates course curriculum as directed by Senior Instructor and/or Management staff
• Lead Instructs/Assistant Instructor for all Core Curriculum Courses and all Contracted Courses
• Teaches customized training courses
• Conducts mobile training. To include multiple locations in the U.S.
• Explains and demonstrates use of apparatus and equipment, to include firearms
• Evaluates the abilities of individual participants to determine suitable corrective or remedial training
• Maintains overall safety and organization of the training environment
• Ensures safety of students. Communicates and oversees compliance with company policy, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Ensures accountability for all training equipment
• Identifies in a timely manner training requirements needed to maintain required certifications and company standards, and completes all required continuing education and refresher training programs
• Completes any additional training and/or certifications required by the government or the contract
• Other duties as assigned
• Work is typically on an outdoor range under various weather conditions, trainers will be required to climb stairs, carry equipment, work varying hours and under tight time constraints. Although business work hours are usually 8:00 am to 5:00pm, there may be night and or weekend hours as required. May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending. Travel is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• U.S. Citizenship required
• Minimum of six years of experience in a training environment
• Must be able to pass a drug screening, background check and be legally able to carry a firearm
• Basic proficiency in MS Office
• Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
• Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
• Experience developing lesson plans preferred
• Experience as an Instructor in an armed security environment preferred
