Job summary

Magee - Women's Hospital of UPMC is hiring a Casual Transporter/Cardiac to support patient care by transporting patients, supplies and specimens across units. The position requires variable shifts, including weekends and holidays, to align with hospital hours of operation.

Key duties include operating the EKG to obtain readings, delivering equipment and medications, and ensuring a safe, courteous handoff to nursing staff.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of lab terminology and CRT terminals is helpful.
• Ability to rotate shifts providing 24/7 coverage.
• Ability to accurately identify anatomical landmarks for EKG leads.
• Good judgment in prioritization of work.

Responsibilities

• Interact with electrocardiographic systems to manage charges and retrieve EKGs.
• Attach electrodes and operate the EKG machine to obtain readings.
• Prioritize STAT electrocardiograms and coordinate with unit staff.
• Deliver supplies, equipment, medications, and other materials safely and timely.
• Safely transfer patients between units and treatment centers.
• Acquire electrocardiograms and resolve cart errors.
