Job summary

Chicago Magnesium Casting Co is seeking a dedicated casting cleaner/operator in Blue Island, IL. You will clean castings to meet customer specifications using grinders and blending tools, following work instructions and production routes.

Responsibilities include accurate in/out scanning, reporting processed quantities, maintaining a clean, safe workspace, and inspecting materials for conformance. You will complete routing records and follow job orders and finishes to required tolerances.

Qualifications

• Basic math and reading procedures are required.
• Good communication skills are essential.
• Must pass Vision Test.

Responsibilities

• Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and reporting processed quantities.
• Wear proper safety equipment; keep area clean and safe at all times.
• Understand customer requirements and internal scrap challenges; deliver quality workmanship.
• Review and inspect all material being used; build self-inspection into every item.
• Complete, date and sign routing information.
• Perform tasks efficiently according to standards.
• Use grinding wheels to remove ingate and riser pads.
• Blend surfaces to 250 finish using grinders and blending tools.
• Complete routing, sign and date and fill production paperwork as required.
• Follow job orders and specifications for finishes, dimensions, tolerances, parts, fixtures and grinding wheels.
• Maintain tools, gauges and equipment in a clean, safe manner.
• Clean work area throughout the day as required.
• Report problems or discrepancies to supervisor.

Basic Function

Responsible for properly & safely clean castings, through the use of grinders and blending tools to remove, and blend parting lines, chill marks, ingates, etc. Operator will utilize work instructions, bench castings and route and product information sheets to produce castings that meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and the proper reporting of processed quantities.
• Wear proper safety equipment; keep work area clean and safe at all times.
• Understand customer requirements, our companies internal scrap challenges, rework, customer returns, the impact they have on your job and demonstrate ability to deliver quality & efficient workmanship.
• Review & inspect all material being used, building self-inspection into everything you make/process
• Complete, date and sign-off on all routing information
• Perform job tasks in an efficient manner according to given standards
• Use grinding wheels to remove ingate and riser pads
• Blend any surface that does not meet 250 surface finish using grinders and blending tools
• Complete routing, sign and date and fill out production paperwork and inspection procedures as required.
• Follow job orders and written and verbal instructions for product specifications such as finishes, dimensions, tolerances, number of parts, fixtures and grinding wheels to be used.
• Maintain tools, gages and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner
• Clean work area throughout day as required
• Report any problems or discrepancies to immediate supervisor

Skills

• Basic math skills, Ability to read and understand all procedures required to perform assigned tasks. Good communication skills. Must pass Vision Test.

Education/Experience/Training

On-the-Job training while working under an experienced operator until position certification is achieved.
