Job summary

O'Fallon Casting, LLC is seeking a shop floor operator to process castings through visual inspection, grinding, blending, finishing and packaging when required.

Responsibilities include following daily assignments, inspecting and de-burring castings to maintain cosmetic quality, marking weld areas, repairing non-weld defects where possible, and preparing parts for shipment in a safe, orderly environment.

Qualifications

  • Shall adhere to all safety requirements as posted on the job safety card.
  • Shall consistently follow all applicable work instructions.
  • Shall receive daily work assignments from the department supervisor or lead person.
  • Shall take castings from the file and burr rack, visually inspect them, remove or blend any burrs, flash or excess metal, always being cognizant of the necessity to maintain an acceptable cosmetic appearance.
  • Shall visually inspect all castings for obvious defects and try to repair those that do not require weld.
  • Shall visually mark areas on the casting that require weld and move them to that area. After the castings have been welded, the cell worker shall blend the welds, complete the finishing process, and ready the castings for shipment if required.
  • Shall remove gate stubs from castings using care to maintain casting dimensions while maintaining an acceptable cosmetic appearance.
  • Shall maintain batch integrity.
  • Shall attend and successfully complete hazardous material / waste handling classes.
  • Shall maintain all records and vouchers in a clean and orderly condition, where accuracy is paramount.
  • Shall attend and successfully complete lockout / tagout training.
  • Shall attend and successfully complete training in the proper techniques of lifting.
  • Shall maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Shall perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Primary Function: Process castings through visual inspect, grind/blend, finishing, and shipping when applicable.

Tools and Equipment: Hand sand cabinet, burr guns, hand tools, visual inspection tools, calipers, gauges, abrasive rolls, air hoses etc.

Material: Aluminum, copper, and brass-based castings, cutting fluids, grinding belts, sand, tape etc.

Working Procedure: Under the guidance and direction of the department supervisor and/or the lead person.
