Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Iowa seeks a Casting Technician to join the Orthopedic Care team. The role involves escorting patients to the casting area, preparing them for application, and supporting daily operations in a busy clinic.

You will apply, modify, repair, fit and remove casts, splints and braces under physician guidance; educate patients on cast care; maintain tools and inventory; and assist nursing staff and students. Day shift, full-time with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in a physician clinic or hospital setting preferred.
• Registered or Certified Orthopedic Technician (ROT) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to casting area and prepare them for application.
• Applies, modifies, repairs, fits and removes casts, splints, braces and dressings as directed by physician.
• Educates patients about cast care and follow-up instructions.
• Maintains tools, equipment and inventory; provides training for nursing, ancillary staff and students.
• Replenishes supplies and keeps casting area clean and organized.

As a Casting tech at MercyOne, you will be responsible for escorting patients to casting area, and prepares them for application

• Applies, modifies, repairs, fits and removes casts, splints, braces and dressings, as directed by physician
• Educates patients about cast care and follow up instructions
• Ensures the proper maintenance, record keeping, and ordering of tools, equipment and/or inventory and provides training for nursing, ancillary staff, and students
• Replenishes supplies—stocks and cleans casting area
• Recommends equipment and inventory purchases to Manager

General Requirements

• 2 years experience in a physician clinic or hospital setting preferred
• Registered or Certified Orthopedic Technician (ROT), experience in orthopedic care and medical assistant experience a plus

• High school graduation or equivalent required
