Job summary

MercyOne Health System seeks a Behavioral Health Tech in Davenport, IA to join the Adult Psychiatric unit. The role involves welcoming patients, orienting them to the unit, and guiding daily activities while maintaining safety and care standards.

The technician leads group sessions, tracks patient goals, and provides supportive interventions as needed. CNA/medical terminology training and experience in behavioral health are preferred for this role.

Qualifications

• Experience in Behavioral Health setting preferred.
• CNA or medical terminology background is beneficial.
• Prior behavioral health experience considered.
• Training in crisis intervention is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients on admission to the Behavioral Health Unit.
• Provide patient unit orientation and daily activity schedule.
• Set behavior expectations and monitor patient progress.
• Lead group sessions to build patient relationships; track goals.
• Assist with personal care and health monitoring as needed.

As a Behavioral Health Tech at MercyOne, you will participate in the provision of safe, quality patient care as delegated by the Nurse Manager. The Technician greets patients upon admission to the Behavioral Health Unit. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; providing patient unit orientation, providing the patient with the standard daily activity schedule and setting behavior expectations during the patients stay on the unit. The Technician leads group sessions to develop patient relationships. Sessions include daily goal setting and follow up with patients to track their accomplishments. The position requires the ability to establish rapport and trust with patients and the ability to offer interventions if patient situations escalated. The Technician may be required to assist with patient personal care and perform health monitoring activities.

Schedule:

• 2nd shift (3:00pm - 11:30pm)
• Part time .4 (16 hours per week)
• Every Other Weekend
• Rotating Holidays

General Requirements

• Training Preferred: Medical terminology, CNA, Previous Behavioral Health Experience
• Special Training: Basic Life Support, CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
• More than 2 years' experience required

Education:

• High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience
