Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT, is seeking a Quality Engineer to evaluate manufacturing processes and hardware for compliance with requirements and to support development and release of inspection processes. Responsibilities include procuring inspection tooling, supporting non-conformances investigations, and deploying standardized quality practices using Lean and Continuous Improvement to reduce variability and increase throughput.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and release of inspection processes and techniques.
  • Procure and maintain inspection tooling and equipment.

  • Support preparation for internal/external quality audits.
  • Develop and deploy standardized quality engineering practices, processes, tools, and methods.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement to reduce variation, increase throughput, and improve part quality.
  • Develop and execute capital equipment projects to improve process capability.

Job description

Location: US-CT-EAST HARTFORD-ETC ~ 400 Main St ~ BLDG ETC

What You Will Do
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes and hardware to determine compliance with applicable requirements
  • Support day-to-day manufacturing activities such as development and release of inspection processes/techniques
  • Procure and maintain inspection tooling and equipment
  • Support shop non-compliance investigations to determine root cause, identifying robust corrective actions and tracking effectiveness
  • Support preparation efforts for internal/external quality audits
  • Develop and deploy standardized quality engineering practices, processes, tools, and methods
  • Use Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement tools to develop and prioritize ideas for, and lead execution of, process improvement projects to reduce process variation, increase throughput, and improve part quality
  • Develop ideas, secure funding, and execute capital equipment projects to improve process capability
Qualifications You Must Have
  • A University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Six Sigma green belt or equivalent
  • Experience working with nickel alloys and single crystal casting process
  • Experience with Pratt & Whitney’s Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Fluency in product and tooling electronic definition interpretation
  • Implement, maintain and monitor tooling for cast/core products and designing/monitoring associated quality assurance/control measures

Salary Range: $86,800 USD - $165,200 USD
