Job summary

Pratt & Whitney's Rapid Prototype Casting Lab seeks an Investment Casting Quality Process Engineer to advance quality and inspection capabilities for turbine engine components. You will evaluate processes, develop inspection methods, and manage tooling and audits, applying Lean and Continuous Improvement strategies.

Ideal candidates bring a university degree with substantial experience in casting QA, plus familiarity with nickel alloys, single crystal processes, and Pratt & Whitney QMS.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years' experience or advanced degree with 3+ years'.
• Fluency in interpreting product and tooling electronic definitions.
• Experience implementing and monitoring tooling for cast/core products and QA measures.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate manufacturing processes for compliance with requirements.
• Support development and release of inspection processes and techniques.
• Procure and maintain inspection tooling and equipment.
• Assist in root cause investigations and tracking corrective actions.
• Prepare for internal and external quality audits.
• Develop and deploy standardized quality engineering practices and tools.
• Lead process improvement projects using Lean and CI to reduce variation and increase throughput.
• Propose and fund capital equipment to improve process capability.

Job Overview

The Rapid Prototype Casting Lab (RPCL) at Pratt & Whitney develops the technology and processes to manufacture advanced castings for turbine engines. The RPCL is seeking an Investment Casting Quality Process Engineer to develop and maintain our quality and inspection capabilities in support of the production of advanced commercial and military turbine engine components.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate manufacturing processes and hardware to determine compliance with applicable requirements.
• Support day‑to‑day manufacturing activities, such as development and release of inspection processes and techniques.
• Procure and maintain inspection tooling and equipment.
• Support shop non‑compliance investigations to determine root cause, identify robust corrective actions, and track effectiveness.
• Prepare for internal and external quality audits.
• Develop and deploy standardized quality engineering practices, processes, tools, and methods.
• Use Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement tools to develop and prioritize ideas for, and lead execution of, process improvement projects that reduce process variation, increase throughput, and improve part quality.
• Develop ideas, secure funding, and execute capital equipment projects to improve process capability.

Qualifications

Required:

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• A university degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Fluency in product and tooling electronic definition interpretation.
• Experience implementing, maintaining, and monitoring tooling for cast/core products and designing/monitoring associated quality assurance/control measures.

Preferred:

• Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent.
• Experience working with nickel alloys and single crystal casting processes.
• Experience with Pratt & Whitney’s Quality Management Systems (QMS).
