Job summary

Boyd Gaming Corporation is seeking a Cook to safely prepare food items, following menu specifications and standard recipes for service across all outlets. The Cook will strive for picture-perfect plate presentation and will create order lists for recipe preparations.

The role requires communicating with other Cooks and Sous Chefs, training junior staff, reading recipes to gather items, and cooking, presenting, and assembling food while maintaining cost and quality controls.

Qualifications

• One (1) year minimum experience in food preparation and food knowledge.
• Must successfully pass background check.
• Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Possession of, and ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers and gaming license within assigned state of employment and other jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items according to menu specifications and standard recipes.
• Create order lists for recipe preparations.
• Communicate with Cooks and Sous Chefs.
• Train lower level Cooks on equipment use.
• Read recipes and gather necessary items for execution.
• Cook, prepare, dish-up and assemble all food for the outlet.
• Adhere to food cost and quality control procedures.
• Perform side work including replenishing/restocking workstation.
• Check station setup for cleanliness before/during/after shift.
• Organize, prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Work on multiple stations (Sauté, Broiler, Appetizer, Pantry, Pasta, Grill).
• Prepare hot and cold sauces.
• Operate kitchen equipment (slicer, steamer, deep fryer, ovens, broiler, grill, mixer, braise, kettle, flat top).
• Lifting up to 150 lbs and significant walking.
