Responsibilities:

1. Provide efficient and courteous service to customers at all times, including asking customers to check out. NEVER sign off the register with a customer waiting. Always wait until someone comes to relieve you.
2. Scan and ring customer orders according to company policy, ensuring items are credited to the correct department and all items are removed from the cart.
3. Receive and be accountable for all funds taken for each transaction.
4. Assist the courtesy clerk in bagging groceries.
5. Maintain a neat and clean work station and surrounding area.
6. Follow all state, local, and federal laws regarding alcohol sales, WIC handling, coupons, and transaction procedures.
7. Follow company policies for check cashing, tendering, and proper use of tills.
8. Take weekly produce tests and record all not-on-file items daily.
9. Properly obtain change and use the intercom correctly.
10. Maintain professionalism by not engaging in conversations with other associates while checking out customers.
11. Understand and explain the ValuCard program.
12. Assist with light stocking duties and keep the front end and bathrooms clean.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
