Job summary

Schweitzer is seeking a friendly, customer-focused cashier for a seasonal role at Schweitzer Mountain in Sandpoint, Idaho. You will process transactions, handle cash and cards, and help maintain a clean, efficient checkout area while supporting inventory and front-of-house operations.

Flexible to seasonal full-time or part-time status; experiences in food service and basic math are beneficial. Perks include resort pass, housing options, childcare discounts, and health benefits where applicable.

Qualifications

• Idaho Food Safety Certification is required or training provided.
• Basic computer knowledge and experience with a computer-based POS system.
• Ability to stand up to 8 hours per shift and lift up to 30 lbs.
• Guest service or cashier experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate the cash register and process transactions, balance the register.
• Maintain efficient line speed and provide excellent guest service at the register.
• Monitor inventory levels and rotate stock in the front area.
• Bus and clean tables.
• Deliver food to guests.
• Keep the front area clean, organized, and well-stocked for health standards.
• Assist other café team members as needed.
• Be willing to help with prep work and step into kitchen roles when required.

Position Summary

The cashier is responsible for accurately processing customer transactions in a fast-paced food service environment. This role involves operating a cash register, handling cash and electronic payments, providing friendly customer service, and maintaining cleanliness and organization at the checkout area. The cashier will also assist with restocking inventory and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Essential Functions And Major Responsibilities

• Operate the cash register and handle transactions including processing payments, handling cash, and balancing the register.
• Monitor and maintain efficient line speed and provide excellent guest service at the register.
• Monitor inventory levels, and maintain proper stock rotation in the front.
• Bus and clean tables.
• Run food to guests.
• Keep the front area clean, organized, and well-stocked to meet health and safety standards.
• Assist other café team members with various tasks during slow periods as needed.
• Will help with prep work. Must be willing to step into any kitchen role. Kitchen experience a plus.

Specific Job Skills

• License/Certifications - Idaho Food Safety Certification (training provided)
• Technical - Basic computer knowledge and comfortable with a computer based point of sale (Squirrel is our current system).
• Physical Capabilities - Able to stand or walk for up to 8 hours per shift. Will lift to 30 lbs. occasionally.
• Additional - Strong attention to detail. Must be capable of managing and performing multiple tasks simultaneously.

Education/Related Experience

Minimum education required - English reading, writing and communication; plus basic math.
