Job summary

Navy Exchange Service Command in Silverdale, WA is seeking a part-time Cashier with benefits to support our military community. The role requires a quick learner with a friendly demeanor, capable of handling cash, assisting customers, and promoting ongoing promotions and STAR card offers.

No prior military affiliation is required, but candidates must be able to access the military base or be a U.S. citizen.

Qualifications

• Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
• Previous Retail Experience preferred but not required
• Must have military base access or be a U.S. citizen

Responsibilities

• Proactively engages with customers to determine needs and guide them to merchandise.
• Directs customers to promotions, events, and STAR card offers while delivering premier service.
• Maintains store appearance and assists with transactions using a Point-of-Sale system.
• Handles cash exchanges, discounts, and card payments, counting money and returning accurate amounts.

So, what does a typical day look like? What does it take to succeed?

• Proactively engages, connects and listens to customers by asking questions to determine customers’ needs.
• Directing customers to merchandise; informing them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, STAR card promotions all while providing premier customer service.
• Maintains store appearance.
• Using a Point-of-Sales system, processing cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards (cash handling) including counting money and returning accurate amounts to customer.

The Qualifiers:

• Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to perform job duties.
• Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
• Previous Retail Experience preferred but not required
